Katie Rolwood scored four goals, with the fourth being the 100th of her career, but the College at Florham Devils were defeated by Alvernia, 15-14, in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, the Devils dropped to 3-6 while the Crusaders improved to 3-6.
The Devils got on the board first as junior midfielder
Ashley Schlindwein found the back of the net just 2:23 into the game. Alvernia came right back and scored four of the next five goals to grab a 4-2 lead before sophomore midfielder
Courtney Rendinaro cut it to 4-3 with 13:47 left in the first half. The Crusaders notched the next two goals grab a 6-3 advantage but the Devils responded by tallying the next four goals to take a 7-6 lead with 1:05 to go. Rolwood scored two goals in the run while Rendinaro and freshman attack
Brianna Capobianco scored the other goals. Alvernia tied the game at 7-7 with 0:26 remaining but Rendinaro put the Devils up, 8-7, heading into halftime when she found the back of the net with only 0:05 left.

Sara Slicklen scored two in a row for FDU to give the Devils a 10-9 lead with 23:50 to go. The Crusaders answered with three of the next four goals to take a 12-11 lead with 17:03 left but sophomore midfielder
Caitlyn McGinley tied the game at 12-12 with 12:37 remaining. Alvernia against scored three of the next four goals to go up two, 15-13, with 2:59 remaining. With things looking bleak, Rolwood pumped in her 100th career goal with 0:33 to go to bring FDU to within one, 15-14. That was as close as they would get though, as Alvernia was able to run out the clock to earn the hard-fought victory.
Rendinaro finished the game with four goals and an assist while Slicklen and Capobianco each had two goals apiece. Freshman goalkeeper
Brittani Feledichuk came on in relief and suffered the hard-luck loss, playing the final 19:34 while making four saves.
The Devils return to action on Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Montclair State beginning at 4 pm.
