Box Score MYRTLE BEACH, SC - Trailing 7-4 at halftime, the College at Florham Devils pulled to within 8-7 with 10:26 left in the game but couldn't quite get over the hump as they fell to Sewanee by a score of 9-7 on Wednesday morning in the second and final game of their Spring Break Trip.
With the loss, the Devils dropped to 3-4 while the Tigers improved to 5-4.
The two squads traded goals over the first ten minutes of the game, with senior midfielder
Katie Rolwood and junior midfielder
Ashley Schlindwein scoring the Devil goals, before Sewanee scored two in a row to take a 4-2 lead with 12:18 left in the first half. Schlindwein cut it to 4-3 a minute later but the Tigers responded by scoring three consecutive goals to grab a 7-3 advantage with 4:47 to go. Rolwood scored the last FDU goal of the first half to make the score 7-4 in favor of Sewanee heading into the break.
Neither team got much going in the first portion of the second half until Rolwood found the back of the net with 16:51 to go in the contest. The Tigers got that goal back three minutes later to take an 8-5 lead but sophomore midfielder
Courtney Rendinaro scored back-to-back goals for FDU to pull the Devils within one, 8-7, with 10:26 to go. FDU had a few opportunites to tie the game down the stretch but Sewanee tallied a free-position goal with 3:48 remaining to grab a 9-7 lead. The Tigers then won the draw and played keep away for the final 3:48, as the Devils never got the ball back.
Rolwood finished the game with three goals, Schlindwein added two goals and an assist, and Rendinaro notched two goals. Sophomore goalkeeper
Grace Warburton was stellar in goal, making 10 saves in defeat.
The Devils return to action on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at cross-town rival Drew beginning at 4 pm.
