Warriors Defeat Devils 55-12

Box Score WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The FDU-Florham Devils football team was defeated soundly by the Lycoming College Warriors 55-12 on Saturday afternoon at David Person Field.

Lycoming (6-3, 6-2 MAC) scored on its first two possessions of the game.  The first was a 49-yard touchdown pass from Tyler Jenny to Matt Atkinson just 16 seconds into play.  On the Devils (1-8, 0-8 MAC ) opening possession, the Warriors forced a Michael Santos (North Arlington, N.J./St. Mary's) interception and countered with a six-play, 48-yard drive, which was capped by a three-yard touchdown run by Lycoming running back Craig Needhammer.

FDU-Florham was held to 54 yards in the first half and entered intermission trailing 34-0.

The Warriors added three more third-quarter scores on only six offensive plays to mount a 55-0 lead. Needhammer scored from 12-yards out, followed by two touchdown receptions by Warrior wide receiver Nick Mongiello (31 yards and 50 yards) to put the game out of reach.

The Devils finally got on the board when Santos found tight end Doug Van Orden (Madison, N.J./Madison) on a 13-yard strike.
FDU-Florham cornerback Mickey Weiks (Wharton, N.J./Morris Hills) returned a 70-yard interception to the end zone with 5:24 to play, resulting in the 55-14 final score.

Needhammer finished the afternoon with 20 carries for 148 yards and three touchdowns.

Daidyn Stewart (Burlingame, Ca./Burlingame) rushed for 37 yards to lead the Devils. Senior linebacker Mike Mancino (Weston, Fla./Cypress Bay) added nine tackles in defeat. Mancino currently leads the team with 97 tackles on the season.

Next up for the Devils:
The Devils return home to take on Misericordia University in their 2013 season finale and will honor their seniors with the annual Senior Day. Kickoff is scheduled for next Saturday, November 16th at 1 p.m.
