Kyra Dayon (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Central) opened the season with a bang, posting a double-double (23 points and 17 rebounds) to lead the FDU-Florham women's basketball team to victory over St. Joseph's College (Long Island) 113-55 on Friday night at Hunter College.
In addition to Dayon, the Devils (1-0) also received double-doubles from
Rachel Groom (Edison, N.J./Edison) who totaled 23 points and 11 rebounds and sophomore
Shalette Brown (Somerset, N.J./Franklin) who added 15 points and 14 boards.

Marc Mitchell's up-tempo defense set the tone for the Devils, as they forced 36 Eagle turnovers on the night.
Florham led 55-21 at the half by applying constant pressure on the SJC-LI ball handlers. The Devils came up with 11 first-half steals as Dayon, Groom and
Delisha Thompson (East Orange, N.J./East Orange Campus) each tallied four thefts in the opening period.
The second half resulted in more of the same, as the Devils scored 20 points off of Eagle turnovers.
The Devils did a great job creating high-percentage shots and outscored the Eagles 64-8 in points in the paint.
The Golden Eagles (0-1) were led by senior Laura Cohen who scored 16 points and played all 40 minutes.

Florham takes on the host Hunter College Hawks tomorrow at 3 p.m. in the Tip-Off Tournament final.
