Box Score MADISON, N.J.—The FDU-Florham Devils field hockey team (5-6, 2-0 MAC) was unable to pull off the upset of the #2 Montclair State Red Hawks (11-1, 2-1 NJAC) on Tuesday night at Robert T. Shields Field, ultimately falling 4-0.
The Devils best scoring opportunity came at the 29:16 mark, when sophomore forward
Stephanie Geskes (Exton, Pa/Downingtown East) fired wide of the net after she received a well-placed setup from
Niki Ikeda (Lawrence, N.J./Lawrence).
FDU only trailed 1-0 heading into intermission, but the Red Hawks added their second goal less than two minutes into the second half, when Stephanie Lewis knocked home a rebound.
Montclair's leading scorer Jennifer Tafro netted two goals in the victory, including a rocket from the right side that found the back of the cage, providing the Red Hawks with their fourth goal of the night.
Devils goalkeeper
Tess Loughran (Newton, N.J./Newton) stopped eight shots in the game, while Montclair outshot FDU 17-2 in their win.
