Box Score MADISON, N.J. – The FDU-Florham Devils volleyball team dropped a tightly-contested five-set match 3-2 (27-25, 25-22, 23-25, 22-25, 13-15) to conference rival Manhattanville College on Wednesday night at Ferguson Recreation Center.
The Devils (15-19, 2-5 MAC) claimed the first two sets before the Valiants (17-15, 1-6 MAC) rallied back and took the next three sets for their first Freedom Conference win of the season.
On FDU-Florham's senior night,
Helena Riede (Haworth, N.J./Northern Valley Demarest) shined for her team, totaling 25 kills and ten digs in defeat.
Senior hitter
Erin Fleming (Oxford, N.J./Warren Hills) also had a great match, notching 19 kills and six digs in the match.
FDU-Florham looked strong in the early stages of the match and pulled out a long first-set victory, thanks to back-to-back kills from
Lauren Edwards (Perry Hall, Md./Roland Park Country) and Riede. Manhattanville managed to fight off six straight match-points before Riede's kill ended the set.
The two seniors, Riede and Fleming, teamed up to close out set number two by hammering consecutive kills to earn a 25-22 win.
A third set that saw ten ties, was ultimately claimed by the resilient Valiants who received seven kills from freshman outside hitter Alissa Primavera. Primavera tallied a program-high of 34 kills on the night for the Valiants.
The Valiants continued to their momentum and earned a 25-22 fourth-set victory.
In the deciding fifth set, FDU-Florham held a 13-12 lead but the Valiants rattled off three-straight points to complete the comeback victory 15-13.

Maggie Kaszuba handed out a career-high 57 assists on the night to go along with five service aces.

Alex Mueller added 38 digs in the loss.
