Box Score MADISON, N.J. -- The FDU-Florham field hockey team (6-11, 2-4 MAC) dropped a physical overtime contest to Freedom Conference rival Eastern University (7-10, 2-4 MAC) 4-3 at Robert T. Shields Field on Saturday afternoon.
Eagles senior Jess Jaindl scored 3:52 into overtime to provide Eastern with the victory.
At the 21:53 mark, Eastern's Megan Bolton opened the scoring by firing a shot into the right side of the cage. Three minutes later, Jaindl found Kaycie Andrew to increase the Eastern lead to 2-0.
The Devils fought back when
Stephanie Geskes (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) launched in her second goal of the season to cut the Eagle lead in half.
Less than two minutes later, Bolton flung in a backhanded shot for her second goal of the afternoon to increase the Eastern lead to 3-1.
FDU battled back again when
Alicia Grotyohann (Lafayette, N.J./Newton) scored her second goal of the season off of a great setup by
Lanie Andrews (Sayreville, N.J./Sayreville) and
Alicia Theoret (Freehold, N.J./Freehold Boro) to bring the Devils within one score.
After two Devils were sent off the field with yellow cards, FDU pulled together to tie the game up at three, courtesy of Geskes' second goal of the day.
Despite both teams creating several scoring chances, the final ten minutes of regulation were scoreless.

th minute, Jaindl redirected Bolton's shot past Devils goalkeeper
Tess Loughran (Newton, N.J./Newton) for the game-winner.
Eight cards were distributed in the physical game: six yellows and two greens.
Eastern held a 12-5 advantage in shots and a 17-5 advantage on corners in the match.
