Devils Edged by Aggies 2-1

Box Score DOYLESTOWN, Pa. --- The Delaware Valley Aggies placed a second half goal in the back of the cage to defeat FDU-Florham 2-1 on Thursday afternoon.

Taylor Prichett beat the Devils defense for a breakaway goal with 15:37 remaining in the game to provide the Aggies with the victory. The goal was Prichett's second of the day, bringing her season total to 19 scores.

The Aggies improve to 11-5 and 4-1 in the Freedom Conference with the victory and remain tied with DeSales College for the top spot in the conference.

The scoring began when Stefania Swider found Prichett on a give-and-go goal to give Delaware Valley the early lead. FDU-Florham (6-10, 2-3 MAC) responded two minutes later, when junior Niki Ikeda (Lawrence, N.J./ Lawrence) found senior Lanie Andrews (Sayreville, N.J./ Sayreville) via a corner opportunity for a fantastic finish. Andrews now has a team-high nine goals on the season.

The rest of the first half remained knotted up at one goal apiece. Prichett scored the decisive goal when she broke away from the pack and beat Devils goalkeeper Tess Loughran (Newton, N.J./Newton) for the game-winner. The Aggie defense was able to contain the FDU attack throughout the rest of the second half and held on for the victory.

Delaware Valley had a 16-5 edge in shots on goal. Loughran was impressive in the cage, and tallied ten saves in the loss. The Devils may be down, but they are not out. At the moment FDU trails Manhattanville College and Misericordia University by one game for the final spot in the Freedom Conference tournament. The Devils defeated Misericordia earlier in the season and are scheduled to play Manhattanville on October 29th.

FDU is in the midst of a three-game slide, but still has two important matches against the Freedom Conference and a senior day game against Richard Stockton College to conclude the regular season.

Next up for the Devils:
FDU returns home for the annual Parents Day, against Eastern University on Saturday, October 26 at Robert T. Shields Field with the game set to start at 1 p.m. Eastern currently sits at 6-10 on the season and 1-4 in conference play.
