Devils Overcome Sluggish Start To Beat Rutgers-Camden, 65-46

Box Score MADISON, NJ - The College at Florham Devils were trailing by a score of 17-11 with 5:11 left in the first half but followed the lead of sophomore forward Kyra Dayon to overcome the bad start on the way to a 65-46 victory over Rutgers-Camden in non-conference action on Monday evening.  Dayon finished the game with a game-high 26 points and six rebounds.

With the win, the Devils improved to 12-1 while the Scarlot Raptors dropped to 5-7.

FDU led 9-8 with 8:35 to go in the first half when Camden went on a 9-2 run to grab a 17-11 advantage with 5:11 remaining.  It was at that point that the Devils woke up a bit and reeled off a 10-0 run to take a 21-17 lead with 1:05 to go thanks to five points from Dayon.  Camden got a free throw with 0:17 to play to make the halftime score 21-18 in favor of FDU.

After the Raptors tied the game at 24-24 with just 3:54 gone by in the second stanza, The Devils reeled off a quick 10-2 run to grab a 24-26 lead just three minutes later.  It was a five-point edge, 44-39, with 6:26 to go when FDU put the pedal down and closed the game with a 21-7 burst to grab the 65-46 victory.  Dayon was the main factor in the game-closing run, as she poured in 10 points down the stretch.

Sophomore forward Delisha Thompson posted 11 points and eight rebounds while junior guard Jalessa Lewis tallied six points, seven boards and seven assists.

The Devils return to action on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at Manhattanville beginning at 6 pm.
