Four In Double Figures Paces Devils In 70-56 Win Over Eastern

Box Score MADISON, NJ - Junior forward Will Green tallied 17 points and seven rebounds while senior guard Mike Williamson added 15 points off the bench to help the College at Florham Devils beat Eastern, 70-56, in Freedom Conference action on Wednesday evening.

With the win, the Devils improved to 7-8 (3-2 Freedom) while the Eagles dropped to 3-13 (1-4 Freedom).

After an early spurt by the Devils to start the game with a 7-0 lead, FDU led by a count of 9-7 with 14:13 left in the first half.  The Devils then went on a 9-2 run over the next five minutes to grab an 18-9 edge thanks to five points from Williamson and four points by junior forward Matt Argudo.  Eastern then made a push of their own however, going on a 12-4 run to cut their deficit to 22-21 with 2:28 to play.  FDU pushed their lead back up to eight, 29-21, with 0:42 to go but the Eagles got the final point of the half to make it 29-22 heading into the break.

FDU came out strong to start the second half, opening with a 20-9 outburst to grab a 49-30 lead with 11:43 remaining.  Green was the catalyst in the run, scoring eight points for the Devils.  It was a 17-point game, 59-42, with 5:58 to go when the Eagles made their last push, pulling to within nine, 65-56, with 1:47 left.  That was the last time Eastern would score though, as FDU dug in on defense to run the clock out and earn the 70-56 victory.

Junior guard Trevor Sykes finished with 13 points while Argudo notched 10 points and six rebounds off the bench.  Senior forward Derek Hall recorded eight points and 12 boards while sophomore guard Kevin Furlong collected seven assists, six rebounds and three steals.

The Devils return to action on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at home against Wilkes beginning at 3 pm.
