MADISON, NJ - The College at Florham Devils play host to the King's College Monarchs on Friday, September 14, 2012, beginning at 7 pm at Robert T. Shields Field. The game will mark the 2012 Middle Atlantic Conference opener for the Devils while the Monarchs stand at 0-2 (0-1 MAC).
FDU is coming off of a 45-28 loss to The College of New Jersey last Friday evening. The Devils built a 21-14 lead with a little over a minute to go in the first half when a one hour and ten minute lightning delay struck that killed all momentum for FDU. Junior quarterback
Mike Santos went 23-of-42 for 342 yards to go along with three touchdowns and one interception. For his efforts, he was named MAC Honorable Mention Offensive Player of the Week. Junior wide receiver
Joe Tauriello and freshman running back
Craig Kimbrough had seven receptions and a touchdown apiece.
King's was knocked off by Widener, 41-6, in their MAC opener last Saturday afternoon. The Monarchs actually jumped out to a 6-0 lead after a two-yard rushing touchdown from
Kyle McGrath but the Pride responded with 41 straight points to pick up the win. Two weeks ago in their season opener, King's was knocked off by William Paterson by a score of 9-3.
The Devils picked up their lone victory of the 2011 season with a 17-3 victory at King's a year ago. In the game, senior running back
Jon Bennett caught four passes for 41 yards while junior wide receiver
Anthony Fruncillo hauled in two passes for 30 yards. Defensively, junior linebacker
Mike Mancino had a team-high eight tackles while senior linebacker
Charlie Thomas had six tackles, a sack and a forced fumble.
Overall, FDU has a 6-13 record against King's with each team picking up two victories in the last four meetings. If you can't see the game in person, tune in to
