Adam Katz went 9-of-15 from the floor for 25 points, to go along with five assists, to lead the College at Florham Devils to a 68-66 win over Wilkes in Freedom Conference action on Wednesday evening.
With the win, the Devils improved to 11-11 (6-5 Freedom) while the Colonels dropped to 14-7 (7-4 Freedom).
The game was tied at 12-12 with 11:05 left in the first half when the Devils went on a 21-10 run to grab a 33-22 lead with 0:12 remaining in the first half. Katz dropped in six points during the run for FDU. Wilkes scored on a running layup with 0:01 to go in the half to make the score 33-24 in favor of FDU heading into intermission.
Wilkes came out hot to start the second half, opening with a 14-8 run to pull to within 41-38 with 13:18 left in the game. FDU came right back with a quick 8-0 run to take a 49-38 lead with 11:08 remaining but the Colonels then embarked on an 11-0 run over the next four minutes to tie the game at 49-49 with 7:17 to play. Andrew Stress gave the Devils a 58-51 advantage with 4:44 left. The two teams went back-and-forth after that but Wilkes could never get closer than two points, pulling to within 66-64 with 0:38 to play. Katz got fouled on FDU's next possession and sank both free throws to make it 68-64 with 0:26 but Wilkes got fouled coming back down the court to close to 68-66 with 0:16 remaining. FDU then got the ball inbounds and was fouled but missed both free throws allowing Wilkes one last chance to send the game into overtime. The Colonels came down the court and got a good look at a foot-on-the-line two-pointer that would have tied it but it went long and the Devils held on for the big win.

Will Green finished with 15 points and six rebounds while Williamson dropped in 12 points off the bench. Junior forward
Derek Hall notched eight assists and seven rebounds.
The Devils return to action on Saturday, February 11, 2012, at DeSales beginning at 3 pm.
