Kyra Dayon notched 23 points, 15 rebounds, five blocks and four steals to lead the College at Florham Devils to a 76-57 victory over Delaware Valley in Freedom Conference action on Saturday afternoon. In the regular season finale for both teams, FDU held a 36-34 halftime lead before exploding for a 40-23 advantage in the second half.
With the win, the Devils improved to 13-12 (7-7 Freedom) while the Aggies dropped to 12-13 (3-11 Freedom). The Devils will now await a bid to the ECAC Metro Region Tournament.
After Delaware Valley jumped out to a 13-6 lead with five minutes gone by in the first half, the Devils went on a 16-7 run to grab a 22-20 lead with 7:30 to go in the half. It went back-and-forth between the two teams for the remainder of the half before the game was tied at 34-34 with 0:52 to go. Dayon scored the last buck of the half for FDU, on a driving layup, to give the Devils a 36-34 lead at intermission.
FDU came out hot to begin the second half, opening with a 17-8 run to grab a 53-42 lead with 10:19 to play in the game. After the Aggies scored on their next possession, the Devils went on another big run, this time a 23-8 outburst to put the game with a 76-52 lead with 0:58 left in the game. Sophomore guard
Jalessa Lewis had nine points in the run while Dayon added eight points.
Lewis finished the game with 14 points, eight assists and seven rebounds off the bench while sophomore center
Melissa DeHaas tallied 11 points and eight boards.
