Box Score STATEN ISLAND, NY - Down by one with only 0:05 remaining in regulation, junior forward Will Green got a good look at the game-winner from the top of the key but the shot went halfway down and popped out as the College at Florham Devils were defeated by Staten Island, 54-53, in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 2-5 while the Dolphins improved to 4-1.

The game was tied at 9-9 with just under ten minutes gone by in the first half when the Dolphins went on a 9-0 run to grab an 18-9 lead with 8:07 to go.  FDU came right back though, cutting their deficit to 18-15 just two minutes later.  After Staten Island grabbed a 22-15 advantage with 5:10 to play, the Devils closed the half on a 13-2 run to take a 28-24 lead into intermission.  Senior guard Mike Williamson was instrumental in the run, pouring in eight points.

FDU took a 39-33 lead with 14:16 remaining on a layup from senior forward Derek Hall but FDU could never increase on the lead and it stood at four, 51-47, after a three-pointer from Williamson with 4:30 left in the game.  The Devils went cold from the field from that point on though, going scoreless for the next three minutes while Staten Island notched seven in a row to take a 54-51 lead with 1:22 remaining.  Green knocked in a pair of free throws to cut it to one, 54-53, with 0:57 left and after a stop on defense, the Devils got a good look at the basket with 0:13 to go but couldn't convert.  The Dolphins helped out by missing a free throw to give FDU the ball back but Green's shot was just off as time expired, allowing Staten Island to steal the victory.

Williamson finished the game with a team-best 17 points off the bench while Hall added 10 points, seven rebounds and five assists.  Sophomore guard Kevin Furlong chipped in four points, eight rebounds and four assists.

The Devils return to action on Saturday, December 22, 2012, at St. Mary's (MD) beginning at 1 pm.
