Box Score BROOKLYN, NY - Despite four different players scoring in double figures, the College at Florham Devils were knocked off by Brooklyn by a score of 73-67 in non-conference action on Monday evening.
With the loss, the Devils dropped to 1-4 while the Bulldogs picked up their first win of the season and are also now 1-4.
FDU opened up a 15-10 lead with 14:43 left in the first half after a three-pointer from junior guard
Trevor Sykes. Brooklyn responded with an 11-2 run over the next five minutes to grab a 21-17 advantage but the Devils came back to grab a 26-25 lead with 6:14 two go after two free throws from senior forward
Derek Hall. Brooklyn then went on another run, this time taking a 34-28 lead with 2:28 to play, but FDU fought back and scored eight of the final 10 points of the first half to tie the game at 36-36 heading into the locker room.
The game was tied at 49-49 with 11:53 left when the Devils went on a mini 7-3 run to grab a 56-52 advantage just three minutes later. That would be the last lead of the game for FDU however, as the Bulldogs came back with a 12-3 run to go up by a count of 64-59 with 3:46 to go. The Devils cut the deficit to two, 64-62, on an old-fashioned three-point play by junior forward
Will Green but that's as close as they would get as FDU went cold from the field and the free throw line while the Bulldogs made the majority of their free throws to escape with the win.
Sykes finished the game with 17 points and five rebounds while junior forward
Matt Argudo came off the bench to record 15 points and eight board. Green notched 13 points and eight rebounds while Hall tallied 12 points and six boards.
The Devils return to action on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at home against cross-town rival Drew beginning at 8 pm.
