Kyra Dayon recorded 26 points, 13 rebounds and four assists to lead the College at Florham Devils to an 81-59 victory over King's in Freedom Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Devils improved to 4-1 (2-0 Freedom) while the Monarchs dropped to 3-3 (1-1 Freedom).
FDU got off to a great start over the first eight minutes of the game, opening up a 22-12 lead thanks to seven points from freshman center
Rachel Groom. The Monarchs responded though, with a 19-10 run to close the deficit to 32-31 with 4:57 to go in the first half. The Devils were not deterred though, finishing the half on an 11-4 run to grab a 43-35 halftime lead. Junior guard
Jalessa Lewis keyed the run with five points.
The Devils really put the hammer down, and put the game away, to begin the second half as they reeled off 26-13 run over the first ten minutes of the stanza to grab a 69-48 lead. FDU kept their lead in the twenties for the remainder of the second half as the closest King's got was 76-58 with 1:35 remaining but by then the Devils had already sealed the victory.
Sophomore guard
Leigh-Ann Lively finished the game with 16 points while Lewis and Groom each poured in 12 points for FDU.
The Devils return to action on Monday, December 3, 2012, at home against St. Elizabeth beginning at 7 pm.
