Box Score ANNVILLE, PA - Sophomore guard
Leigh-Ann Lively scored 26 points to lead the College at Florham Devils to a 63-45 victory over Marywood on Saturday evening to open the 2012 season in the Lebanon Valley Rinso Marquette Tournament.
With the win, the Devils improved to 1-0.
FDU jumped out to a 10-3 lead with 12:31 left in the first before Marywood scored the next seven points to tie the game at 10-10 four minutes later. With Marywood holding a 16-14 advantage and 7:54 to go in the half, the Devils ended the first half on a 14-4 run to take a 28-20 lead into intermission. Five different players scored for FDU in the half-closing spurt.
The Devils started the second half by increasing their lead to 11, 33-22, after two free throws from Lively but Marywood closed to within seven, 33-26, with 15:42 left in the game. That's when the Devils stepped on the gas though, erupting for a 21-7 run to take a 54-33 lead with 6:58 to go in the contest. Lively and junior guard
Jalessa Lewis each had six points to key the run. FDU coasted from there as the lead never got lower than 12, 56-44 with 2:31 to play, on their way to the 18-point victory.
Lewis finished the game with 12 points, six rebounds and three steals while freshman center
Rachel Groom pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds in her first collegiate game.
The Devils return to action on Sunday, November 18, 2012, against #10 Lebanon Valley in the Finals of the tournament beginning at 3 pm.
