MADISON, NJ - Senior midfielder
Josh Corpuz scored two goals, including the game-winner with 12:48 left, to give the College at Florham Devils a 2-1 win over Eastern in Freedom Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Devils improved to 8-10 (3-3 Freedom) while the Eagles dropped to 7-5-1 (2-4 Freedom). The win keeps the Devils alive for a bid to the upcoming Freedom Conference Tournament while the loss eliminates the Eagles from contention.
After a scoreless first half, Corpuz started the scoring with 1:52 gone by in the second half when he headed in a long free kick from freshman goalkeeper
Andrew D'Angelo. The Eagles came right back three minutes later to tie the game at 1-1 and it remainded the way for the next twenty-eight minutes before Corpuz banged home the game-winner on a direct kick with 12:48 to go. The FDU defense then stood strong down the stretch to earn FDU the hard-fought win.
D'Angelo picked up the victory in goal, making five saves.
The Devils return to action on Saturday, October 27, 2012, at home for Senior Day against DeSales beginning at 1 pm.
