Late Rally Give Montclair 12-11 (OT) Win Over FDU

MADISON, NJ - Down 9-5 with just one minute gone by in the second half, Montclair State rallied to tie the game at 10-10 to force overtime where they scored two goals to knock off the College at Florham Devils, 12-11, in non-conference action on Friday afternoon.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 1-1 while the Red Hawks improved to 2-2.

FDU got off to a great start, scoring the first two goals of the game but Montclair netted three of the next four to tie the game at 3-3 with 23:14 left in the first half.  Senior attack Sara Franckowiak scored the next goal for the Devils and then assisted on a goal by junior midfielder Breana Kilpatrick but the Red Hawks scored two in a row to tie it at 5-5 with 20:48 to go.  Things slowed down from that point on, but it didn't stop FDU from scoring the final three goals of the half to take an 8-5 advantage into halftime.

When Kilpatrick found the back of the net just 0:46 into the second stanza, FDU took their largest lead of the game at 9-5.  Montclair scored the next two but sophomore attack Jennie Jones tallied a goal to give the Devils a 10-7 lead with 21:58 left in regulation.  FDU's offense went cold from there though, as Montclair scored four goals in a row to take an 11-10 lead with 2:39 to go.  The Devils came right back and tied it at 11-11 just under a minute later when senior midfielder Lindsey Parent scored on a free position shot and FDU got a stop on defense to send the game into overtime.  The Red Hawks scored the lone goal in the extra session with 1:08 gone by and played keep away from then on to secure the victory.

Senior midfielder Erika Depelteau scored three goals for FDU while Parent added two goals and an assist.  Kilpatrick also had two goals while Franckowiak finished with a goal and an assist.  Freshman goalkeeper Ashley Smith made four saves in the loss.
