MADISON, NJ - The College at Florham Devils were defeated by Delaware Valley, 65-55, in Freedom Conference action on Thursday evening.
With the loss, the Devils dropped to 8-11 (4-5 Freedom) while the Aggies improved to 9-11 (3-6 Freedom).
Delaware Valley got off to a hot start, opening up a 25-8 lead with 8:33 left in the first half. FDU chipped their deficit to 12 points, 34-22, with 0:58 to go, thanks to six points from junior forward
Matil Mangual, but the Aggies nailed a three at the buzzer to take a 37-22 halftime edge.
The Aggies began the second stanza as hot as they did the first, ripping off an 11-4 run to take a 48-26 lead with 14:33 left in the game. The Devils methodically came back though, and cut the Aggie lead to 59-47 with 3:45 to go. FDU then went on a 6-0 run to pull to within 59-53 with 0:53 to play but that was as close as they would get as Del Val sank their free throws down the stretch to pull out the victory.
Mangual finished with a game-high 20 points while senior forward
Shealyn Taggart added 17 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. Freshman guard
Brianna Nicholls tallied a career-high nine assists.
The Devils return to action on Saturday, February 5, 2011, at King's beginning at 1 pm.
