Box Score WAYNE, NJ - Despite 17 points and a game-high 13 rebounds from junior forward
Derek Hall, the College at Florham Devils were defeated by William Paterson by a score of 67-54 in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, the Devils dropped to 0-3.
FDU got off to a great start, opening up a 9-2 lead with four minutes gone by in the first half. William Paterson came right back though and tied the game at 11-11 just two minutes later. With the Devils holding an 18-17 edge with 8:05 to go, the Pioneers went on a 14-7 run over the next seven minutes to take a 32-24 lead with 1:25 remaining. The Devils came right back though, closing the half with a 6-1 run to go into halftime trailing by a score of 33-30. Senior guard
Adam Katz scored five of the six points in the run for FDU.
William Paterson came out and took control of the game to begin the second half, going on a 20-7 run to take a 53-37 advantage with 9:30 left in the game. The Devils made one last push however, closing to within eight points, 55-47, with 6:21 remaining thanks to six points from junior guard
Ardell Roberts. That was as close as FDU would get though, as William Paterson got their lead back up to 16, 67-51, on their way to the 67-54 victory.
In addition to the stellar effort from Hall, Roberts added 12 points off the bench for FDU. Katz tallied eight points, five rebounds and four assists.
The Devils return to action on Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at home for their Freedom Conference opener against DeSales beginning at 8 pm.
