PURCHASE, NY - The College at Florham Devils earned the number one seed in the upcoming Freedom Conference Tournament with a 4-1 win over Manhattanville on Tuesday evening. The Devils will draw Manhattanville, the fourth seed, in the Semifinals of the tournament.
With the win, FDU improved to 11-8 (6-1 Freedom) while the Valiants dropped to 11-6 (4-3 Freedom).
The Devils started the scoring just 8:30 into the game when freshman defender
Niki Ikeda knocked home a pass from junior defender
Marybeth Weimer. FDU took a 2-0 advantage at the 20:43 mark when senior forward
Lauren Guenther converted a feed from junior midfielder
Kelsey Kistle. The Devils took their 2-0 lead into halftime but Manhattanville cut it to 2-1 with 11:47 gone by in the second half. FDU got their two-goal lead back eight minutes later when Weimer found the back of the cage off a pass from senior midfielder
Megan Springmeyer. Springmeyer finished the scoring by adding an insurance goal just 1:50 after Weimer's tally.

Tess Loughran picked up the win, making six saves.
The Devils return to action on Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at home in the Semifinals of the Freedom Conference Tournament against fourth-seeded Manhattanville beginning at a time to be announced.
