MADISON, NJ - In a battle of two of the top teams in the Freedom Conference, the College at Florham Devils earned a huge victory over Eastern, 2-1, in overtime on Thursday evening.

With the win, the Devils improved to 9-8 (4-1 Freedom) while the Eagles dropped to 7-8 (4-1 Freedom).

The Devils jumped out to a 1-0 lead with 4:28 left in the first half when junior midfielder Corey VanOrden knocked home a shot in a scramble off of a penalty corner.  Eastern wasn't down for long though, as the Eagles tied it at 1-1 with 8:57 gone by in the second stanza.  Both teams had opportunities to take the lead down the stretch but neither could convert and the game went to overtime.  With 5:33 left in the extra session, senior midfielder Megan Springmeyer converted a pass from senior forward Lauren Guenther to give the Devils the thrilling victory.

Sophomore goalkeeper Tess Loughran was stellar in goal, picking up the win while making 13 saves.

The Devils return to action on Saturday, October 22, 2011, at Delaware Valley beginning at 1 pm.
