Kandace Johnson scored 19 points while freshman
Brianna Nicholls added 17 points and six assists to lead the College at Florham Devils to a 58-46 win over Misericordia in Freedom Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Devils improved to 8-9 (4-3 Freedom) while the Cougars dropped to 10-7 (5-2 Freedom).
FDU had a fantastic start to open the game, jumping out to a 27-11 advantage with 8:43 left in the first half thanks to 12 points from Johnson. After Misericordia cut it to 11, 29-18, with 5:44 to go, the Devils closed the half on a 7-1 run to take a 36-19 lead into the locker room.
The Devils built their lead up to 17 points, 47-30, with 8:57 left in the game when the Cougars went on a 15-4 run to pull to within six, 51-45, with 1:40 to go. FDU clamped down though and hit their free throws down the stretch to pull out the win.
Senior forward
Shealyn Taggart had 10 points and five rebounds while freshman forward
Melissa DeHaas pulled down six boards off the bench.
The Devils return to action on Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at New Rochelle beginning at 6 pm.
