MADISON, NJ - Down 42-40 early in the second half, Misericordia went on a 19-7 run to take a 61-47 lead with 8:34 left on their way to a 79-63 win over the College at Florham Devils in Freedom Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, the Devils dropped to 3-13 (1-6 Freedom) while the Cougars improved to 11-7 (4-3 Freedom).
FDU held a 13-10 lead with 6:49 gone by in the first half thanks to seven points from sophomore forward
Derek Hall. MIsericordia came back with an 11-2 run to take a 21-15 advantage with 10:45 to go. The Devils came back to tie the game at 34-34 with 1:02 left, but the Cougars scored the final four points of the half to take a 38-34 lead into intermission.
The Devils went on an 8-2 run to open the second half but the Cougars came right back with a 19-7 run to take a 61-47 lead with 8:34 left to play. Misericordia held a 67-53 advantage with 5:24 to go when FDU made one last push, going on a 9-2 run to pull to within seven, 69-62, with 3:36 to go. The Cougars clamped down though and closed the game with a 10-1 run to earn the 79-63 victory.
Hall finished the game with 16 points, all in the first half, and seven rebounds while sophomore guard
Mike Williamson added 14 points. Junior guards
Adam Katz and
Joe Missale and freshman guard
Trevor Sykes all had eight points.
