LANGHORNE, PA - The College at Florham Devils beat New Jersey City, 3-0 (25-10, 25-19, 25-16) and Manhattanville, 3-0 (25-7, 25-10, 25-14), but lost to Stevenson, 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-22), at the Philadelphia Biblical Tournament on Saturday afternoon.
With the results, the Devils now stand at 8-3.
NEW JERSEY CITY - Senior middle hitter
Lauren Brazier (Stony Brook, NY/Ward Melville) led the sweep with 10 kills and five blocks while senior setter
Kerry Kuperman (Scottsdale, AZ/Chaparral) added 15 assists and seven digs. Senior defender
Marcie Schlanger (New City, NY/Clarkstown South) finished with 11 digs.
STEVENSON - Brazier and freshman middle hitter
Helena Riede (Haworth, NJ/Northern Valley Demarest) paced FDU with seven kills apiece. Kuperman and sophomore setter
Nicole Weissert (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) each had 11 assists while junior libero
Marta Matera (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) and sophomore outside hitter
Chelsea Hoeffler (Cranford, NJ/Cranford) each recorded 13 digs.
MANHATTANVILLE - In non-conference action, Weissert was dominant as she had 12 assists, 12 aces and eight digs. Junior defenders
Karlee Georgia (Woodcliff Lake, NJ/Pascack Hills) and
Jackie Kressaty (Rutherford, NJ/Rutherfrod) finished with nine and eight digs, respectively.
The Devils return to action on Wednesday, September 15, 2010, with their Freedom Conference opener at home against Wilkes beginning at 4 pm.
