#3 Devils Fall To #1 Elizabethtown, 11-4, In MAC Finals

ELIZABETHTOWN, PA - The third-seeded College at Florham Devils were defeated by top-seeded Elizabethtown, 11-4, in the Middle Atlantic Conference Tournament Championship Game on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 14-6 while the Blue Jays improved to 15-4 and will now move on to play in the NCAA Tournament.

The Blue Jays started the game strong, opening up a 3-0 lead with six minutes gone by in the first half.  The Devils got on the board after a free-position goal by junior midfielder Sara Franckowiak (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central) with 22:51 left in the first half.  Elizabethtown didn't let up though, as they scored the final three goals of the half to take a 6-1 lead heading into the break.

FDU came out to begin the second half by cutting their deficit to 6-2 after Kristen Schuster (Centereach, NY/Centereach) converted a free-position shot.  The Blue Jays responded again, this time scoring four in a row to increase their lead to 10-2 with 10:24 left in the game.  The Devils notched back-to-back goals by freshman attack Ashley Schlindwein (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) and Schuster to make it 10-4 with 8:55 to go.  Unfortunately, that was as close as the Devils would get as Elizabethtown tacked on another goal with 3:10 left and then ran out the rest of the clock to preserve the win.

Junior goalkeeper Kelly Butler (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater) suffered the loss, making 13 saves.  Katie Caprinolo of Elizabethtown was named the Most Valuable Player.
