#3 FDU Takes Care Of #6 Eastern, 20-11, in MAC Quarters

MADISON, NJ - The third-seeded College at Florham Devils knocked off sixth-seeded Eastern, 20-11, in the Quarterfinals of the Middle Atlantic Conference Tournament on Tuesday afternoon.  Senior attackers Linda Bohn (Vernon, NJ/Vernon Twp.) and Kristen Schuster (Centereach, NY/Centereach) led the way with five goals apiece.

With the win, the Devils improved to 13-5 while the Eagles closed out their season with a record of 8-10.

FDU got on the board first on a goal by junior midfielder Erika Depelteau (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro North) but Eastern came back with two straight goals to grab a 2-1 lead with less than five minutes gone by in the game.  That's when FDU really turned it on as they ripped off nine consecutive goals to grab a 10-2 advantage with 8:28 left in the half.  Bohn had three goals in the run while Schuster and junior midfielder Sara Franckowiak (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central) each had two goals.  The eagles didn't quit though, as they closed the half by scoring the final three goals to cut their deficit to 10-5 entering halftime.

The Devils came out hot to begin the second half, tallying four straight goals to take a 14-5 lead.  Eastern again tried to mount a rally, this time scoring four of the next five goals to pull to within 15-9 with 18:01 left to play.  That was all FDU would allow though, as the Devils notched three of the next four goals to go ahead by a score of 18-10 with 13:33 remaining.  Eastern scored to make it 18-11 but the Devils scored the final two goals of the game to move on to the Semifinals on Thursday.

Junior midfielder Lindsey Parent (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) finished with three goals and three assists while Depelteau also chipped in three goals.  Junior goalkeeper Kelly Butler (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) started and picked up the win, making two saves in the first half.

The Devils return to action on Thursday, May 6, 2010, when they travel to take on second-seeded Messiah beginning at 4 pm.
