MADISON, NJ - The College at Florham Devils were knocked off by #5 TCNJ, 20-10, in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon.
With the loss, the Devils dropped to 5-2.
TCNJ started the game strong, scoring the first three goals to grab a 3-0 lead with 3:00 gone by in the first half. The Devils got on the board when junior midfielder
Lindsey Parent (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) converted a pass from senior attack
Linda Bohn (Vernon, NJ/Vernon Township) just a minute later to make it 3-1. The Lions then ripped off five of the next six goals to take an 8-2 advantage with 10:20 left in the half. After Parent scored again to make it 8-3, TCNJ notched three in a row to take an 11-3 lead with 3:59 to go. The two teams traded goals to make it 12-4 but the Devils scored two goals in the final 0:37 of the half, including a goal with no time left on the clock by sophomore
Breana Kilpatrick (Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic), to cut the deficit to 12-6 at halftime.
The Lions scored two of the first three goals to begin the second half with a 14-7 advantage but Parent and junior midfielder
Erika Depelteau (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro North) scored back-to-back goals to pull the Devils to 14-9 with 17:29 left in the game. Unfortunately, that was as close as FDU would get as TCNJ finished the game by scoring six of the last seven goals to earn the 20-10 win.
Parent finished the game with four goals and an assist while Bohn had two goals and an assist. Depelteau also recorded two goals. Junior goalkeeper
Kelly Butler (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater) suffered the loss, making three saves.
The Devils return to action on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at home against Misericordia beginning at 7 pm.
