MADISON, NJ - Freshman guard
Mike Williamson (Piscataway, NJ/Bishop Ahr) had a game-high and career-high 18 points to go along with six rebounds to lead the College at Florham Devils to their first Freedom Conference victory of the season, a 69-57 triumph over King's on Sunday afternoon.
With the win, the Devils improved to 2-18 (1-9 Freedom) while the Monarchs dropped to 10-11 (6-4 Freedom).
King's took a 6-5 lead shortly out of the gate but the Devils immediately ripped off a 15-2 run to jump out to a 20-8 lead with 10:24 left in the first half. Williamson had seven points for FDU in the run. With the Devils holding a 25-14 advantage, King's went on a 7-2 run to cut their deficit to 27-21 with 2:31 to go but the Devils ended the half on a 9-0 run to take a 36-21 lead into intermission.
FDU continued their strong play to start the second half as two three-pointers from sophomore guard
Adam Katz (Wharton, NJ/Morris Hills) and a layup from junior forward
George Twill (Mendham, NJ/Mendham) gave the Devils a 44-22 lead. King's didn't quit though as they responded with a 15-3 run to cut the gap to 47-37 with 9:02 left in the game. That was as close as they would get though, as FDU kept their lead between 12 and 15 points for the remainder of the ball game and drained the majority of their free throws down the stretch to seal the win.
Junior center
Ricky Fetske (Galloway, NJ/Absegami) had 16 points and six rebounds off the bench while Katz finished with 14 points. Senior forward
Andrew Biancosino (Edison, NJ/JP Stevens) chipped in six points and eight boards.
The Devils have a quick turn-around as they return to action on Monday, February 8, 2010, at home against City Tech beginning at 7 pm.
