Will Green finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds while freshman guard
Koko Karajelian added 14 points (4-of-6 from three) to lead the College at Florham Devils over Wilkes, 72-50, in Freedom Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Devils improved to 2-5 (1-1 Freedom) while the Colonels dropped to 2-4 (0-2 Freedom).
The Colonels got off to a good start, opening up a 12-4 lead with 13:09 left in the first half. FDU then went on a 10-2 run to tie the game at 14-14 with 9:09 to go thanks to five points from Karajelian. Wilkes held a five point lead, 24-19, with 3:39 remaining but the Devils closed the half with a 12-6 spurt to grab a 31-30 lead at halftime. Green and Karajelian each had six points in the run while Karajelian hit a three-pointer with 0:05 left to give the Devils the lead.
FDU got off the a great start to begin the second half, opening with a 21-6 run to grab a 52-36 lead with 12:16 left. Senior center
Ricky Fetske scored all nine of his points during the run. After Wilkes cut it to 52-40, the Devils responded with a 14-4 run to take a 66-44 lead 5:56 to go thanks to 10 points from Green. The Colonels never threatened again as the FDU defense allowed only 20 points in the second half.
Sophomore forward
Derek Hall tallied 11 points and 12 rebounds while Fetske finished with nine points and 11 rebounds.
The Devils return to action on Monday, December 6, 2010, at home against Hunter beginning at 7 pm.
