MADISON, NJ - The second-seeded College at Florham Devils faced a 2-1 hole going into the fourth game of the Semifinals of the Freedom Conference Tournament against #3 Misericordia on Wednesday night, but the Devils dug deep down and won the last two games to advance to the Freedom Conference Tournament Finals on Saturday evening.
With the win, the Devils improved to 30-7 while the Cougars dropped to 14-17. FDU will now travel to face top-seeded Eastern in the Championship Game.
Senior middle hitter
Lauren Brazier (Stony Brook, NY/Ward Melville) posted 20 kills and five blocks to help the Devils earn the 3-2 (25-18, 13-25, 27-29, 25-15, 15-7) victory. Sophomore outside hitter
Chelsea Hoeffler (Cranford, NJ/Cranford) notched 15 kills and 20 digs while senior setter
Kerry Kuperman (Scottsdale, AZ/Chaparral) added 43 assists and 17 digs. Junior libero
Marta Matera (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) had 24 digs, senior defender
Rachel Highley (New Holland, PA/Garden Spot) had 10 digs, and sophomore setter
Nicole Weissert (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) had 10 assists.
The Devils return to action on Saturday, November 6, 2010, in the Freedom Conference Tournament Finals as #2 FDU will hit the road to play #1 Eastern beginning at 7 pm.
