#3 Devils Drop Double Overtime Heartbreaker To #2 Kings, 2-1

WILKES-BARRE, PA - The third-seeded College at Florham Devils were defeated by second-seeded King's, 2-1, in double overtime in the Semifinals of the Freedom Conference Tournament on Wednesday afternoon.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 10-10 while the Monarchs improved to 15-4.  FDU will now wait for a bid to the ECAC Tournament while King's will move on to play top-seeded Eastern in the Finals of the Freedom Conference Tournament.

After a scoreless first half, FDU got on the board first just 10:20 into the second stanza when junior midfielder Megan Springmeyer (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills) found the back of the cage.  The Devils held that lead until there was 7:50 left in regulation when senior defender Shelby Trenge (Alburtis, PA/Brandywine Heights) knocked home a pass from junior forward Jenera Quinones (Wilkes-Barre, PA/Myers).  King's controlled the action throughout virtually the entire first overtime, as they held a 13-1 edge in shot, but the FDU defense stood tall and forced a second overtime.  With 9:41 left in the second OT, Quinones sent King's to the Championship Game as she banged home a shot to give the Monarchs the win.

King's had a huge edge in both shots (40-7) and penalty corners (25-7), but the Devils were able to hang right in there for the entire game.

Freshman goalkeeper Tess Loughran (Newton, NJ/Newton) was sensational in goal, making 22 saves.
