HOBOKEN, NJ - The College at Florham Devils were defeated by Stevens, 79-51, on the first day of the Stevens Tournament on Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, the Devils dropped to 2-1 while the Ducks improved to 2-0.
With the score 8-5 in favor of Stevens, the Ducks ripped off a 17-7 run to grab a 25-12 advantage with 5:56 left in the first half. After the Devils cut it to 25-18, Stevnes ended the half with a 9-0 run to take a 34-18 lead into intermission.
FDU was within 12, 40-28, with 14:52 to go in the game when Stevens put the pedal down and erupted for a 20-7 run over the next seven minutes to take a 60-35 lead that effectively ended the game.
Junior guard
Shaleah Alston paced the Devils with 16 points while freshman forwards
Brianna Nicholls and
Melissa DeHaas each had seven points.
The Devils return to action on Tuesday, November 23, 2010, at home against John Jay beginning at 5 pm.
