MADISON, NJ - Junior guard
Shaleah Alston scored a game-high 38 points, four short of the the school record, to lead the College at Florham Devils to a 91-67 win over Centenary on Monday evening in the season opener for both teams.
With the win, the Devils improved to 1-0 while the Cyclones dropped to 0-1.
FDU opened up a 21-14 lead with 9:05 gone by in the first half after a three-pointer by Alston. After Centenary cut it to 21-19, the Devils went on a quick 7-1 run to increase their lead to 28-20 with 8:03 left in the half. The Cyclones crept to within 28-25 with 6:21 left, but the Devils exploded for a 18-5 run to close the first with a 46-30 lead. Alston pumped in 14 of the 18 points for FDU in the run.
The Devils came out and put the hammer down right away to begin the second half, opening with a 18-7 run to take a 64-37 lead with 13:52 to go. The Cyclones were able to cut it to 72-58 with 7:44 remaining but the Devils responded with a 13-1 run over the next three minutes to take an 85-59 lead. Centenary never threatened again as FDU cruised to the victory.

Lanie Andrews had 10 points off the bench. Senior forward

Melissa DeHaas each had a team-high 12 rebounds. Alston also added six assists.
The Devils return to action on Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at home against City Tech beginning at 6 pm.
