Devils Outlast Delaware Valley, 3-2 (2OT)

MADISON, NJ - Junior midfielder Megan Springmeyer (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills) scored two goals, including the game-winner with 1:01 gone by in the second overtime, to lead the College at Florham Devils to a 3-2 victory over Delaware Valley in Freedom Conference action on Friday evening.

With the win, the Devils improved to 7-6 (2-1 Freedom) while the Aggies dropped to 7-6 (1-1 Freedom).

The Aggies got on the board at the 18:25 mark before junior forward Lauren Guenther (Wall, NJ/St. Rose) tied it up at 1-1 just seven minutes later.  With 5:47 gone by in the second half, Delaware Valley made it 2-1 when they scored off a penalty corner but Springmeyer tied it at 2-2 only eight minutes later on a penalty shot.  The game remained that way throughout the remainder of regulation, though both teams had good opportunities to score.  FDU dominated the first overtime but were unable to get the winner until Springmeyer's heroics early in the second overtime.

Freshman goalkeeper Tess Loughran (Newton, NJ/Newton) earned the win, making six saves.

The Devils return to action on Sunday, October 10, 2010, at cross-town rival Drew beginning at 4:30 pm.
