MADISON, NJ - The College at Florham Devils knocked off Eastern, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon in Freedom Conference action to not only clinch a spot in the upcoming Freedom Conference Tournament, but the Devils will also be the #3 seed.
With the win, the Devils improved to 10-7-1 (4-2-1 Freedom) while the Eagles dropped to 11-5-1 (5-2 Freedom). By winning, the Devils also prevented Eastern from being the top seed in the tournament but now the Eagles are the second seed and will host FDU on Tuesday in the semifinals.
The lone goal of the game came with 8:25 gone by in the second half when sophomore midfielder
Josh Corpuz (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) banged home a pass from sophomore midfielder
Manny Almeida (Elizabeth, NJ/Paramus Catholic). The two squads were mostly even statistically, as both teams had 11 shots apiece.
Senior goalkeeper
Kevin Herbert (Whippany, NJ/Whippany Park) was stellar in goal, making seven saves.
The Devils return to action on Tuesday, November 2, 2010, in the Semifinals of the Freedom Conference Tournament at second-seed Eastern beginning at 2 pm.
