Danielle Michlovsky (Wind Gap, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) had 15 points and 17 rebounds, senior guard
Courtney Young (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) finished with 16 points, nine rebounds and six assists, and junior forward
Shealyn Taggart (Atlantic Highlands, NJ/Middletown South) notched 18 points, eight rebounds and six steals to lead the College at Florham Devils to a 66-46 win over Wilkes in Freedom Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Devils improved to 10-9 (4-4 Freedom) while the Colonels dropped to 3-16 (1-7 Freedom).
The Devils opened up a 7-6 lead with 17:02 left in the first half and then expanded the lead to 21-10 with 10:59 to go via a 14-4 run. Five Devils scored in the spurt. Wilkes closed to 23-14 with 4:48 remaining but the Devils responded with an 8-2 run to grab a 31-16 lead on their way to a 31-19 halftime edge.
FDU held a 35-26 lead with 4:01 gone by in the first half but the Devils once again made a run, this time an 11-6 spurt to take a 46-32 lead with 10:25 to go. Wilkes made one last push, cutting the FDU lead to 47-40 with 8:09 to play but the Devils squashed any hopes the Colonels had by erupting for an 18-4 run over the next six minutes to take a commanding 65-44 lead with 2:29 to go. Young was the key player in the run as she recorded 10 points.
On top of their previously mentioned heroics, Young and Michlovsky each added four steals while Taggart dished out four assists.
The Devils return to action on Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at Delaware Valley beginning at 6 pm.
