MADISON, NJ - Despite 18 points and 10 rebounds from senior forward
Danielle Michlovsky (Wind Gap, PA/Bethlehem Catholic), the College at Florham Devils were defeated by Manhattanville, 64-49, in Freedom Conference action on Wednesday evening.
With the loss, the Devils dropped to 7-7 (2-2 Freedom) while the Valiants improved to 9-4 (4-0 Freedom).
Each team got out to a good start and the game was tied at 10-10 with 7:03 gone by in the first half. That's when Manhattanville ripped off 17-6 run to grab a 27-16 advantage with 6:51 left. The Devils cut the deficit to seven, 27-20, but the Valiants got their lead back up to double digits, 33-23, by intermission.
Manhattanville came out hot to start the second stanza, as they opened on a 24-12 run to grab a 57-35 lead with 6:37 remaining in the game. FDU cut it to 59-46 with 2:15 to go but could not any closer as the Valiants remained unbeaten in conference play.
Junior forward
Shealyn Taggart (Atlantic Highlands, NJ/Middletown South) finished with 11 points and six rebounds while senior guard
Courtney Young (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) added 10 points.
The Devils return to action on Saturday, January 16, 2010, at home against DeSales beginning at 1 pm.
