HOBOKEN, NJ - The College at Florham Devils split their season opening tri-match at Stevens, losing to Stevens by a score of 3-2 (20-25, 25-23, 27-25, 23-25, 15-11) before beating Hunter by a 3-1 (25-22, 20-25, 25-13, 25-20) count .
With the split, the Devils stand at 1-1.
Stevens: Sophomore outside hitter
Katlyn Mullane (San Antonio, TX/Warren) led the squad with 11 kills while junior setter
Kerry Kuperman (Scottsdale, AZ/Chaparral) had 27 assists and 14 digs. Junior outside hitter
Patty Manhart (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) had 22 digs and sophomore libero
Marta Matera (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) had 19 digs.
Hunter: Mullane had another strong showing, finishing with 11 kills and 21 digs. Junior middle hitter
Lauren Brazier (Stoney Brook, NY/Ward Melville) finished with 14 kills while Kuperman had 31 assists. Matera had 11 digs and freshman setter
Nicole Weissert (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) recorded 10 assists.
The Devils return to action on Friday, September 4, 2009, in the Emerson/Wentworth Tournament against Wentworth beginning at 4 pm and against Hardin-Simmons beginning at 6 pm.
