Devils Fall To Wilkes, 75-62

WILKES-BARRE, PA - Despite 24 points from sophomore guard Adam Katz (Wharton, NJ/Morris Hills), the College at Florham Devils were defeated by Wilkes, 75-62, in Freedom Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 0-6 (0-2 Freedom) while the Colonels improved to 4-2 (1-1 Freedom).

The two teams played even for the first 7:15 as the score was tied 15-15.  Wilkes then went on a 16-6 run to grab a 31-21 lead with 7:16 left in the first half.  After the Devils cut it to 38-31 with 2:15 to go, Wilkes closed the half with a jumper and a three-pointer to take a 43-32 lead into the locker room.

FDU trimmed the Wilkes lead to 50-43 to begin the second half but the Colonels responded with a 10-2 run to take a 60-45 lead with 9:28 left in the game.  The Devils cut it to six points, 65-59 after a three-pointer from sophomore guard Joe Missale (Blauvelt, NY/Tappan Zee) with 1:53 to go but Wilkes knocked in their free throws down the stretch to earn the win.

Missale came off the bench to score a career-high 12 points on 4-for-4 from three-point land while junior center Ricky Fetske (Galloway, NJ/Absegami) added seven points and nine rebounds.

The Devils return to action on Monday, December 7, 2009, with their final game of the first semester when they travel to Hunter beginning at 7 pm.
