WAYNE, NJ -
The College at Florham Devils were knocked off by William Paterson, 87-60, in the season opener for both teams on Monday evening.
With the loss, the Devils dropped to 0-1.
William Paterson opened the game with an 8-0 spurt but the Devils cut it to 15-8 at the 11:59 mark on a jumper by sophomore guard Adam Katz (Wharton, NJ/Morris Hills).  That's when the Pioneers exploded though, ripping off a 29-9 run over the next nine minutes to take a 44-17 lead with 2:44 left in the first half.  The closest the Devils would cut the deficit to in the second half was 47-27 just 1:30 into the period.
Katz led the way with 15 points while sophomore guard Bobby Faiges (Bayville, NJ/Lakewood Prep) and freshman guard Alex Rosario (Bound Brook, NJ/Bound Brook) each chipped in eight points.
The Devils return to action on Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at cross-town rival Drew beginning at 8 pm.
