FDU
Jeff Slanovec begins his fourth year and second full season as the Head Men's Golf Coach in 2022-23. He became the fourth head coach in program history when he was hired in August 2019.

The 2021-22 season started a new chapter in Devils Men’s Golf as Slanovec helped to secure a home for the Devils at Mendham Golf and Tennis Club. Working with the staff at Mendham, the Men’s and Women’s Golf Teams have both practice and playing access throughout the week. In addition, FDU hosted the first ever FDU Invitational in September 2021. The access to Mendham surely helped the squad, as the new look Devils shaved nearly 10 strokes off their score from the fall to the spring, culminating in the team’s best performance of the season on the final day of the MAC Championships. Vinny Dasaro ‘24 was named Second Team All-MAC after his T8 finish at the MAC Championships, the first Devil to garner All Conference recognition under Slanovec’s tutelage.

Unfortunately, his first two seasons were cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Devils started the 2019-20 season strong with a successful fall season where FDU finished 3-1 in dual matches, including a perfect 3-0 against MAC Freedom opponents. The team averaged 332 per match, an improvement of almost 10 strokes per match from the previous season. With the pandemic still (adjective to describe continuing lol), the Devils were able to have a shortened spring season during the 2020-21 school year, where FDU finished 1-1 in dual matches and competed in three other tournaments. In the classroom, the Men’s Golf team had the highest male team GPA in the Fall 2020 semester.

PRIOR TO FDU
Slanovec came to FDU after spending four years at Gettysburg, where he coached both Men's Basketball and Men's Golf. On the links, Slanovec played a key role in developing the Bullets into a contender in the Centennial Conference. After a sixth place finish at the Centennial Conference Championship in 2015, Slanovec was key in recruiting a class that would rewrite the history books on the Battlefield. It didn't take long for that to begin, as rookie Dane Sethre-Hofstad's Centennial Conference record-tying 67 at the fall Penn State-Harrisburg Invitational topped the Bullets score of 287, which shattered the program's low score. The Bullets would go on to break the 300 barrier three more times that year, none more important than a final round 293 in the Centennial Conference Championship, which vaulted Gettysburg into the Sunday lead before finishing just short in second. That year, Slanovec coached Danny Harcourt to Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year and All Centennial Conference honors. Harcourt's final round 3-under 69 was the lowest final round score in Centennial Conference Championship history.

In his four years on the Battlefield, the Bullets collected 11 tournament victories, while a Bullet won medalist honors on 14 different occasions. In addition, two were named All Centennial Conference.

The Bullets also collected accolades on both the regional and national level. In all three seasons under the tutelage of Slanovec, Harcourt was named a Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Division III PING All-Mid Atlantic Region selection, while Sethre-Hofstad was a two-time selection. Sethre-Hofstad was also named to the GCAA Division III All-Freshman Team in 2015-16, while Harcourt was an Honorable Mention All-American selection in 2017-18.

Slanovec was promoted to Head Men's Golf Coach in May 2018, but left for Madison a few months later when he was named the Head Men's Basketball Coach at FDU.
