    Video Coordinator / Bullpen Coach
Josh Flowerman enters his second season as the video coordinator and bullpen coach for the Devils.

Flowerman directs the program's analytics and video operations for player development, along with assistant pitching coach responsibilities. Tasked with creating the program’s analytics and video development plan, Flowerman will be coordinating- practice and game- video and data collection, operating Diamond Kinetics data software, and supervising all video review sessions with players. As assistant pitching coach, Flowerman will be assisting pitcher development, drill series, mechanical analysis, and pitch development plans. He will assume the role of bullpen coach during games, to go along with formulating opponent scouting reports.

Flowerman comes to FDU after spending the 2017-2018 season at neighboring Drew University. As an assistant coach, he was primarily responsible for coordinating the analytics and video development for the Rangers. This included charting all pitches every game using BATS software, conducted player video review sessions, along with supervising data collection to improve player evaluations and development plans. He also was in charge of advance scouting reports and helped design pitching plans.

During the 2015 season, Flowerman was a minor league Video Coordinator at multiple levels for the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. Using 6 different camera angles, he charted every pitch using BATS software, while generating reports using Trackman and Inside Edge to help coaches breakdown video for mechanical analysis and improvement.

From 2013-2014, Flowerman was the Video Coordinator for the Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders of the New York Yankees organization. Here, he worked alongside many future and former big league players.   During his two seasons with the Triple-A Yankees, he worked closely with the hitting coach on daily game plan preparation, while providing tendencies and reports on opposing pitchers. Flowerman conducted biomechanical research and analysis on the team's hitters in 2013, using video to find correlations between mechanics, in-game performance, and injury prevention. He also aided the Big League club with advance scouting reports on opposing pitchers who get called up to the Majors.

Flowerman has presented at various baseball data research seminars as well. In 2017, he presented at SABR Analytics in Phoenix on "Making Sense of Pitch Tunneling", and at the SABR Diamond Dollars Case competition at NYU on "Predicting BABIP (Batting Average on Balls in Play)." In 2019, he presented in Boston at the SABR Seminar, speaking on "Digging Deeper; Bullpen Choices and Other Challenges."

Flowerman spent time in media relations for various professional sports teams as well. He worked with the Houston Astros (2011), Hudson Valley Renegades (2010-2011), Orlando Magic (2002-2003), Los Angeles Dodgers (2001), Somerset Patriots (2000), and the Worcester IceCats (1998).

Flowerman earned his bachelors degree in broadcast journalism with a minor in sports studies from Ithaca College. He then received a Master of Science in Analytics degree from Villanova University, before obtaining a certificate in problem solving using machine learning from Cornell University.
