MADISON, N.J. – The FDU-Florham baseball team finish their year on a win against the Cyclones Tuesday afternoon.
Devils Highlights
- Junior Peter Longo ended his season on a high, going 2-for-4 with a three-run homerun, three RBI and one run scored.
- Junior John Rolli had a great game, going 2-for-3 with a double, one RBI and three runs scored.
- Sophomore Xavier Diaz finishes his superb season in strong fashion, going 1-for-2 with a two-run homerun, three RBI and three runs scored.
- Senior Jake Stollar closed his FDU career out with a stellar performance, earning a four inning save while giving up one run and striking out five.
How It Happened
- The Devils wasted no time getting on the board in the top of the first inning. Starting off with a leadoff walk to Rolli, Diaz smoked a line drive homerun over the right center wall. This put the team on top of the Cyclones 2-0, which was unfortunately erased in the top of the second inning as Centenary took a 4-2 lead. In the bottom of the frame, RBI from Rolli and Diaz gave the Devils the lead with a score of 5-4.
- After the Cyclones took the lead in the top of the fourth inning, the offense would go onto score three more runs in the bottom of the inning. A huge two RBI single from Longo and a convenient passed ball allowed the Devils to extend their lead to 8-6.
- The Devils would go onto score three more runs in the bottom of the fifth, sixth and eighth innings. RBI from senior Zach Ganca, Longo and sophomore Matthew Bond gave the team a 11-9 win. Throughout the last five innings, first year Braydon Rakov and Stollar combined to give up three runs on seven hits while striking out six. Rakov managed to secure the win for his team, while Stollar produced a four inning save to end the Devils' season on a high note.
Game Notes
- Eight players recorded a hit in today's loss, with four players having a multi-hit game.
