GLENSIDE, Pa. – The FDU-Florham softball team split its doubleheader with Arcadia Wednesday afternoon as the Devils dropped Game 1 7-6, but took home an 8-5 extra-innings win in Game 2 on the road.
DEVILS HIGHLIGHTS (Game 1)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Devils got on the board first in the third inning as Lambright socked an RBI-single to right to drive home Abigail Rodriguez followed by a two-run single from Wodecki two batters later to give FDU a 3-0 advantage.
- In the fifth, a Gace Capparelli fielder's choice drove in Lambright to extend the FDU lead to 4-0.
- Then in the sixth, the Knights capitalized on an FDU throwing error and scored seven straight runs to take a 7-4 lead.
- FDU fought back in the top of the seventh as the Devils scored twice on a Rodgriguez sac fly and an RBI-double from Reece but that was all the offense could muster as Arcadia took Game 1 7-6.
DEVILS HIGHLIGHTS (Game 2)
- Giulia Olear led the offense in Game 2 as she went 2-for-2 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored.
- Capparelli doubled and drove in two runs.
- Sydney Grifone went five and 2/3 innings of shutout ball in relief as she allowed just two hits and struck out seven to earn the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Like Game 1, the Devils got on the board first as Lambright knocked in Reece with a sacrifice fly. Riley Signor followed with an RBI-single to left to plate Olear and give FDU a 2-0 lead.
- The Knights then answered with runs in the home half of the first as RBI-singles from Kiersten Murray and Stephanie Binek knotted the game at 2-2.
- In the third, Arcadia took a 5-2 lead after a two-run single and an RBI-fielder's choice.
- The Devils then answered in the fifth with an RBI-single from Kylee Berg and a two-run double from Capparelli to make it a 5-5 contest.
- The game went to extras and in the top of the eighth, Olear hit an inside-the-park three-run home run to give the Devils an 8-5 lead.
- Entering the bottom of the eighth with a three-run lead, Grifone struck out the side to end the game and split the doubleheader with the Knights.
GAME NOTES
- This was Olear's first-career home run.
- Grifone leads the MAC Freedom with 54 punch outs.

The Devils return to action on Friday, April 3 as FDU welcomes Delaware Valley to McManus Field for a MAC Freedom doubleheader. First pitch of Game 1 is set for 2 p.m.
