Baseball Drops Series to Lebanon Valley

ANNVILLE, Pa – The FDU-Florham baseball team dropped two in their double header against Lebanon Valley Sunday afternoon.
 
Game One:
Devils Highlights
  • Sophomore Xavier Diaz continued his hot season, going 1-for-2 with a two-run home run.
  • Senior Nicholas Colbert had a good Game One, going 1-for-3 with one RBI.
  • Junior Jake Knapp also had a solid Game One, going 1-for-3 with one run scored.
How It Happened
  • Following a two-run inning for the Dutchman, the Devils took advantage of a costly error in the top of the second inning to start their scoring. An RBI single off the bat of Colbert scored Knapp from second base and put the team within reach of Lebanon Valley with a score of 2-1.
  • The offense had one more scoring inning, this time in the top of the third. After a leadoff walk from senior Parker Muratore, he promptly stole second and got into scoring position. On a 1-0 count, Diaz unloaded a home run to right field, knotting the game up at 3-3 going into the bottom of the third.
 
Game Two:
Devils Highlights
  • Junior Jake Knapp led the charge in Game Two, going 2-for-3 with a double and one run scored.
  • Senior Parker Muratore had a solid Game Two, going 1-for-2 with one HBP.
  • Senior Nicholas Colbert also helped lead the offense, going 1-for-3 with a double and one RBI.
  • Juniors Peter Longo and Tommy Sica both went 1-for-3 in Game Two, each with a single.
How It Happened
  • After falling into a 4-0 deficit, the Devils answered back in the top of the second inning. The inning started off with a double up the middle for junior Jake Knapp. A wild pitch gave Knapp and free bag and set up a scoring opportunity for Colbert. Colbert delivered with double down the right field line, making the game 4-1. The Devils would go on to load the bases but ultimately wouldn't score due to an inning ending double play.
 
Game Notes
  • Eight players recorded a hit today, with three players recording extra base hits.

The Devils will be back in action at home against Delaware Valley on Friday, April 3 at 3:30 p.m.
