Women's Lacrosse Win First Game of the Season

Madison, N.J. - The FDU-Florham Devils women's lacrosse team won their first home contest, 9-8, against the UMSV Dolphins on home turf at Robert T. Shield Field 

 
Devils Highlights 

How it Happened 

  • FDU earned its first goal of the year early in the first quarter, coming from Ballesteros at the 13:16 minute mark 
  • The Devils continued their offensive dominance as Collins notched FDU's second goal of the day, less than 3 minutes following their first 
  • Robinson closed out the first quarter for Devils goals with a third at the 7:40 time stamp 
  • The Dolphins responded with 2 unanswered goals, but FDU remained in the lead, 3-2, as they headed into the second quarter  
  • UMSV took the lead for the first time during the early minutes of the second quarter as they reached a score of 4-3 with 4:56 on the clock 
  • FDU completed the second quarter tied 4-4 as Ballesteros notched her second goal of the day 
  • In the third quarter, the Devils scored back-to-back goals coming from Robinson and Medina, assisted by Victoria Balderas Velez
  • UMSV answered with their 5th goal, but FDU's Collins scored another to bring the score to 7-5 with 12:26 left in the third 
  • At 5:06, Medina propelled the Devils to 8 total goals as she scored her second of the day in the third quarter 
  • The Dolphins snuck in a 6th goal with 34 seconds left in the third quarter to bring the score to 8-6, FDU lead
  • UMSV scored an early fourth-quarter goal as they began to close the gap, 8-7, at 12:07
  • The Dolphins tried to fend off the Devils, but Robinson notched her 3rd goal of the game, extending the score to 9-7 
  • UMSV scored their final goal at the 4:18 time stamp, but FDU remained on top for the rest of the fourth, winning their first game of the season 9-8 
 

Up Next 
The Devils will host the University of Saint Joseph, CT, on Wednesday, March 4th, for a non-conference match-up. The first draw control is set for 4:00 PM.
