Softball Secures Final Conference Doubleheader of the Season at Delaware Valley

Doylestown, PA (April 27 ) – For its final MAC Freedom doubleheader of the season, the FDU-Florham Devils Softball Team (22-16, 7-7 MAC Freedom) faced Delaware Valley on its home turf and quickly felt comfortable as the Devils sealed game one in five innings with a 10-1 score, and confirmed the series sweep with a 6-4 win in game two.

Game 1:

FDU-Florham was able to bring in a run almost every inning, starting with two runs in the first inning and another two in the fourth, including an RBI single from Giulia Olear (Cranford, NJ), 4-0.

Avoiding the shutout, Delaware Valley was able to score it's run by sending the runner on third home, on a wild pitch.

With four runs needed to invoke a mercy rule, FDU-Florham did just above and beyond as they added five runs for good measure, 10-1.

Pitching in what would be her last collegiate game, Erin Sinatra (Colonia, NJ) (14-8) was seen through the first four innings and recorded four strikeouts.

Game 2:

Delaware Valley quickly made its senior day statement as three runs were added in the first inning.

Starting the Devils' rally at the top of the second was Grace Capparelli (South Plainfield, NJ) as her RBI to center field was the first of four during the inning to bring in a run, 4-3.

Momentum picked up as the final two runs were added in the third inning of play. The Aggies gave one final effort with its fourth run of the game, but was short of its senior day win with a 6-4 loss to FDU-Florham.

Seen in five innings for FDU-Florham was Caydence Barton (Sayreville, NJ) (4-3), who saw 24 batters before recording the win, and Sydney Grifone (Vernon, NJ) earning the save with one strikeout In two inning's.

Despite sweeping Delaware Valley, FDU-Florham just missed the MAC Freedom Playoffs but has recorded the most program wins since 2013.
