Women's Basketball Fall to Stevens, 81-43

Hoboken, NJ (February 22) FDU-Florham Women's Basketball traveled to Stevens for their final game of the season. Unfortunately, they fell by a score of 81-43.

FDU-Florham (7-18, 4-10 MAC Freedom) was led by Christina Centeno (Bayonne, NJ) who scored eight points and two rebounds.
 
Stevens's (17-8, 11-3 MAC Freedom) best player on the court was Dorothy Loffredo, who scored 16 points.

The Ducks started off the game with seven straight points, but the Devils responded with four straight points of their own, coming from a layup by Centeno and a jumper from Kolby Lynch (Morristown, NJ). Unfortunately, that's all FDU would score in the quarter, as Stevens would put up 19 straight points to close the quarter and would hold a 26-4 lead after ten minutes.

A jumper from Stevens was responded to immediately by a jumper from Lynch. Stevens scored nine more points before Kristen Mellon (Southampton, NJ) made a jumper. A bucket from Stevens would be responded to by a three-pointer by Centeno. One more three from Stevens would close the first half, as the Ducks held a commanding 42-11 lead.

FDU entered the quarter with some made free throws from Bianca Sode (Kenilworth, NJ). A layup from Stevens was answered by a three-pointer from Shannon Tighe (Wayne, NJ), and she also hit two jumpers to respond to one from Stevens. A layup from the Ducks was matched by free throws from Lynch, and Julia Vazquez (Bound Brook, NJ) would put up her first points of the game on a layup. A tip-in from the Ducks was answered to by a three-pointer from Centeno, and a three-pointer from Stevens saw a response with free throws from Gabrielle Walker (Old Bridge, NJ). Stevens scored five straight points, but Jasmine Revolsky (Whitehouse Station, NJ) made a layup and a free throw to keep FDU in it. A Stevens three ended the third quarter, and they held a 64-32 lead with ten minutes left.

Sode opened up the last quarter with free throws, but Stevens answered with a layup. The Devils scored on back-to-back possessions with a jumper from Vazquez and a fastbreak layup from Sode. A layup from Stevens was responded to by a Sode free throw. Stevens scored the next ten points before Gabrielle Mazzotte (Westport, NY) made a jumper. After a Ducks three-pointer, Briana Flatt (Bridgewater, NJ) made a three-pointer for the final points of the game, which Stevens won by a score of 81-43.

FDU-Florham shot 24.2% (15-62) from the floor, 25.0% (4-16) from three-point range and 64.3% (9-14) from the free throw line, while Stevens shot 52.4% (33-63) from the floor, 45.5% (10-22) from three-point range and 50.0% (5-10) from the free throw line.

Stevens won every statistical category, scoring more on turnovers (13-10), more second chance points (15-11), bench points (25-12), points in the paint (38-14) and fast break points (6-5).
